Cevantino Festival in Guanajuato, Mexico

Dan Johnston

The Cervantino is a month-long festival held in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico where young people come from all over the world to celebrate art, music, culture and to revel in the atmosphere of all-night parties where anything goes. Many of the youth that you will find at Cervantino are in search of something to believe in and a purpose for their lives.

Volunteers from The Family International traveled from all over Mexico to join with us in reaching the youth through our music and message; offering them the solution to the emptiness they feel inside.

Eight of our regular Bible class students also came with us to receive training and to learn how to reach out to others their age with God’s truth.

With shirts and signs proclaiming 'free hugs' many approached us to receive their hug and walked away with a spark of hope and peace in their hearts, and a message of God's love in their hands. Many also stayed to hear the meaningful music we played and to have their seemingly endless questions answered about God, life, peace, and why there was so much suffering in the world we live in. In total, over 10,000 young people were able to hear our message and more than 2,000 personally prayed with us to receive the gift of God's love and salvation by asking Jesus into their hearts as their personal savior.

A giant ‘Thank You’ goes to Activated Ministries who in a large way made this event possible through their sponsorship of over 9,000 tracts. Many lives were changed as a result of their generous giving, and we couldn’t have done it without their help.
