Music Therapy Program

They say music is medicine for the soul. But when kids sing and move with motions to the music it also moves the hearts and souls of most anyone. And that was our target, souls and hearts that need care. Over 5 social centers and psychiatric hospitals and old folk’s homes were visited by our “family show” musically bringing cheer, motivation and joy to the patients at the centers. Mothers in Crisis Protected by Saints

“This calendar has been my only inspiration since the day I arrived here” commented a mother whose name and picture can’t be mentioned due to the fact that she along with her children are in hiding from abusive family members. “I am so happy to now have one of my own!” This feedback was one of many that made our efforts worth it, a sign that no matter how big a project, even a little motivational gift can be significant. Sponsor a Book reaches more than 1,000 underprivileged children

Again, we want to thank you so very much for your support of our projects and for donating the books we distribute. Mexico finds itself in a very difficult situation right now, after 25 years of having religious and moral education banned from the schools (the government just re-instituted civic instruction and is training their teachers to do so). Being able to distribute value-based literature to the most vulnerable and at risk children is such a powerful opportunity to help stem the tide of organized crime. 5 days, 5 Indian communities, over 1,000 children and more than 4,000 sponsored books distributed

Isabelle Nizincourt

Imagine you are a boy or a girl, born in remote community of Guerrero (one of the poorest state in Mexico). The closest “big” city (of 100,000 inhabitants) is over two hours away, half of the way on mountain dirt roads. The place is dormant under an implacable heat. Nothing much happens here, especially in the way of entertainment, and one day you hear that a team of foreigners is on their way to do a program in your village, and that they are bringing with them gifts of toys and books. Wow! Read more about 5 days, 5 Indian communities, over 1,000 children and more than 4,000 sponsored books distributed

Patricino un Libro’s campaign with the Otomi Indians

Isabelle Nizincourt

It was a joy to resume our programs after nearly everything in Mexico came to a halt in April due to the flu emergency. We recently returned from our first campaign in the State of Queretaro at the Otomi Indian communities. The Otomi are the 5th largest Indian population in Mexico, and like most other tribes, the majority live in poverty and exclusion. Some Otomi Indians move to the cities, others to the US, and those who remain on their lands are faced with high unemployment and marginalization. Patricino un Libro’s 2009 Children’s Day celebration

Isabelle Nizincourt

Our volunteers at Patrocina un Libro celebrated Children’s Day 2009 at the “Arena Santa Lucia” in Monterrey, Mexico. This year Children’s Day came a little later than usual due to the swine flu scare, but thankfully by June 13 everything was back to normal and we were able to organize a special event for patients in the children’s wing of the Metropolitan Hospital as well as children from local orphanages. Making the invisible visible, Part 2

Izabelle Nizincourt

Our first “Sponsor a Book” campaign for 2009 took us to Guerrero, the home state of famed Acapulco, but also the land of some of the poorest municipalities in México. We held six King’s Day “jornadas” (events) for a total of 1,200 underprivileged children in four schools, one small community, and one boarding school, as well as two workshops for parents. Our volunteers distributed 150 toys and 4,200 sponsored books.
